Thanks to this beautiful Advent Calendar my friend Kara made, we had a lot of reasons to get in the Christmas Spirit. Along with candy we put different activities in each of the days before Christmas.
Some of our favorites:
The Lights at Temple Square
Jessica was so excited to find this Chinese Character, which is love. The fun part was that it was one of her vocabulary words for that week!
The kids were so excited to jump off of this stone. They remembered their Uncle Remi and Aunt Mindy doing just that in their wedding video!
We had several service activities hidden in our Advent Calendar. The kids favorite was anonymously delivering Christmas cookies. This was also mom and dad's favorite, as we giggled harder than ever watching Tanner run away "inconspicuously" from each house :) We also had activities for shoveling our neighbors walks; Caroling; Game Nights; Puzzle Night; Festival of the Trees; a Christmas Music Concert; and our most favorite is the tradition of Christmas Stories, with egg nog, goodies, and candles each Sunday night of December. We will definitely make our advent calendar a Christmas tradition. The kids had more fun finding out the activity each day, than eating that days treat. It was fun to set aside time to spend as a family and really enjoy the Christmas Spirit.
