Summer Wrap-UP

p.s. Katie this is for you ;)

 The "Buck Moon" Event
Phil was so cute when he got home from work one Friday, and had the kids run out to get the mail by themselves. A coveted affair as daddy usually takes care of that. Inside they discovered invitations to see the "Buck Moon", roast marshmallows, and sleep outside in the tent. The kids were over the MOON!
 'roughin' it in the backyard
They even got out daddy's fancy new telescope
to view the "Buck Moon" in all its glory.
In case you're curious, its called the "Buck Moon" because that is when the deer start growing their antlers....
now you know!

Jessica and I enjoyed a much needed and anticipated getaway with the Kimball girls (and Spencer and Beckham) to St. George. While there we saw Disney's 'The Little Mermaid' at Tuachan, went swimming, played at the park, and shopped til we dropped! It was so much fun. I felt spoiled as I was only taking one with me and got to leave the three boys home with dad, while Lisa was taking all four of her kids (she has 3 girls, and Baby Beckham is nursing!). Jess asked me, "is that why you only had one girl?" I responded that we gave it three good tries for another girl, but Heavenly Father blessed me with the best so we only needed one!  She was tickled to have all my attention to herself.
Spencer, Grandma, Kennady, Jess, and Cydnee waiting to see the show!

Kennady, Jess, and Avary with Sebastian (Avary was a little star struck ;)
Avary, Cydnee, Jess, and Kennady with Flounder
Relaxing at the pool.
Such a fun little getaway. Definitely needs to become a tradition!!
One of our favorite traditions is with HDI (Help Desk Institute-which Phil is on their board) and each year we are invited to join them at the Bees Game around the 24th of July. This year it was on the 23rd, which happens to be my brother-in-law Dave's birthday, so we invited them to join us. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and the company even better.
We were spoiled this year as HDI gave us Bees Bucks to get food with and since several people who reserved tickets didn't show up, we had plenty of Bees Bucks to spend. The kids were in heaven as we never get 'special' treats at the games unless we smuggle them in, in the diaper bag!
We were treated to dinner (anything of their choice), drinks, kettle corn, ice cream...Heaven I'm telling you!
Tyson waiting to cheer on the team
Tanner wearing his souvenir ice cream cup ;)
 Jess, Kennady, and Cydnee
 Spencer and Austin
Tyson and Daddy, can you see the scoreboard? because we were up 11 runs in the first inning! two homeruns, bases loaded...
and the icing on Dave's Birthday Bash...fireworks!

One tradition we'd rather not repeat is fixing the air conditioning in our vehicle in July! It happened last year just before we sold our Suburban, and this year in our Odyssey.  Phil was calling around to get prices and found out that at Ken Garff they were having a 24th (actually 25th of July) Special, on air conditioning and you got to park there for free for the parade! So we got up bright and early to get our car to its appointment and us to the parade.  We had great seats and the kids had a great time seeing the floats in person...
 Tanner
(I feel as though I need to add a disclaimer here about Tanner's hair: he is going to be an extra in the 'New Testament' movie the LDS Church is making and we won't be cutting his hair til the end of October ;)
 Taylor
 Miss J
 Tyson
He loved everything about the parade. Especially this guy...

That night we had a delicious dinner of Gyoza at our good friends the Seamans. Then it was time for some fireworks...but the fireworks took a back seat to shadow dancing on the garage door!

Super duper weekend!

More summer fun included...
 S'mores at the cabin
 Swimming, swimming, and more swimming
 Trips to the zoo

Girls Camp for me...The Theme was 'God is the same, Yesterday, Today, and Forever" and each ward had a different era... we were the '20's!
Fun at friends for the kids!... Thank goodness for amazing friends who stepped in to take care of my kids while I was at camp...even with Tyson having an ear infection!
Luckily, he waited til mom got home to have a nasty allergic reation to the amoxicillin...7 days after starting it. He is now officially allergic to penicillin. He was on a steroid medicine to help him get over it faster which caused insomnia, irritability, and diarrhea for a week.  Once he got passed that, then it was on to rotovirus ;) with vomitting and more diarrhea. Unfortunately, Phil, Jess and I got a tamed down version and were sick for 24 hours in rotation with Tyson.  August was a long month...we crippled our diaper supply, going though as many as 10 diapers in a day!
We managed to end on a high note with a trip to the Gateway Fountains with cousins!
Wonderful Memories made this summer.  Hoping the warm weather lasts way into November!

Don't cut his hair!!! It's so adorable and really shows his sweet little personality! I mean, of course, he would be just as cute without the do, but I admit I would be a little sad :)

Rach I love your blog. So many fun adventures. Sorry about the sickness part of it. I think it should be against the law to get sick during summertime.
